This is something that we at B.A. Games are super excited about! After countless conversations my brother and I have had over the past couple of decades, having this become a reality is an amazing thing! This is the moment where all the time, money, and hard work spent has been rewarded! Without your help, it would not have been possible!

1st Stretch Goal
Well, stretch goals are now a reality. This is where your voice can truly be heard in the campaign and become a lasting part of Cult of the Deep. The first stretch goal is 2 versions of a completely new character to be added to the game, and they need a title. To give you an idea of what we are looking for, the titles used so far are:
Blood Mage
Librarian
Sorceress
Alchemist
Assassin
Guardian
Astrologer
Merchant
Necromancer
The titles pertain to what could be considered a job or character class. Below you will find a description of a work in progress special ability for the character for this first stretch goal.
Beginner vs Advanced
Basically the best way we have found in naming characters is to describe the character, and what their special ability is. For this character the following words are what describes them best: copies, mimics, transforms into, or impersonates.

As promised to a backer, the artwork for one of the ritual cards. More will be coming as well as some explanations about the game and more detailed looks at some of the cards in the game.

Day 1 - Over 80% Funded!
When we pressed that launch button this morning for the first time, it was a strange feeling. All of the work we had done in creating the game, the art, the world, and it came down to us putting our faith in people.
Within seconds, we had the pledges coming in and we were humbled. Friends, as well as people we didn't even know, had set their alarms and took time out of their days to make sure they were there to support us. It's moments like this that help us believe in community and in each other.

Current Status
So far through pre-Kickstarter stretch goals, we have unlocked 4 alternate versions of characters currently in the game. These will be new cards added to the game, so instead of 9 character cards there will be 13!
What does that mean? Why are we doing this?
When designing Cult of the Deep, we made an effort to appeal to new players as well as board game veterans. One way we did this was by dividing the characters into 2 categories: easy and advanced. Both were fairly equal in power but the advanced characters provided the players with more interactions and choices. By adding an alternate version of an easy character, we can provide a different take on an ability in order to provide more choices, gameplay, and replayability.

Achieving those stretch goals unlocked alternate cards for the: Astrologer, Blood Mage (shown above), Librarian, and Sorceress. We are excited to bring these alternate versions to life! However, we need your help.
Funding The Cult
The first few days of a Kickstarter are crucial in order to set the campaign up for success. Which means we need to spread the word. We'll keep doing our best to initiate people into the Cult of the Deep, but just like how summoning a Kraken takes a cult to complete the ritual, we need everyone one of us to invite others to the cult.
To help, we are going to add a social stretch goal. If we succeed, we'll unlock an alternate card for the Merchant character!
Step 1) Post, tweet, share, email, write an article, draw, paint or whatever works for you. It just needs to be about Cult of the Deep. It can be about the art, the world, the short story, the gameplay, or even Phil. (He's the Kraken you see on our cover image! His name is Phil McKraken.)
